Tugboat Fenders Overview

Tugboat Fenders are the critical "armor" of a tug, specifically engineered to withstand the extreme, high-energy impact and intense friction encountered during pushing, pulling, and escort operations. Unlike stationary quay fenders, tugboat fenders must be flexible, rugged, and capable of maintaining performance under constant movement.

Key Type:

W-Fender (Bow Fender):Designed to wrap around the bow of the tug. Its "W" shape provides excellent energy absorption and a large contact area, essential for pushing maneuvers.

M-Fender (Bow/Stern Fender):A lighter, more flexible alternative to the W-fender, ideal for smaller tugs or specific hull shapes.

Cylindrical/Keyhole Fenders:Often used as "side fenders" or "rub rails," running along the gunwale to protect the tug from chafing against larger ships.
